Stakeholders in the Nigerian gospel music industry including EeZee Conceptz, the brains behind EeZee Global Mindustry Conference have raised the need to build a sustainable structure for Nigerian gospel music industry. They made the call at the second edition of the conference, which was held at Daystar Christian Centre, Oregun.

At the conference, which had a cross-section of speakers and panelists, the stakeholders also discussed the need to build a rewarding structure for the promising industry. Popular music producer and Coded Tunes Africa label owner, Olumide Ogunade, professionally known as ID Cabasa, who was one of the speakers at the event, emphasised the need for Christians to look beyond the church. He added that this doesn’t reduce the function of the gospel but in essence, improves the true worth of Christians.

He said, “the gospel sends light forth. That’s what the Bible told us. Even our Lord Jesus Christ knows we are in this world, and that’s why he made us light. There is no industry separated from another; we all do the same thing.

“The only difference in ours is that we are doing this to the glory of the Lord. These guys out there are your colleagues. It’s the same way you have bankers who are either Christians or not as colleagues. But we must be the light and seek knowledge.”

Speaking on the idea behind the conference, the chief executive officer of EeZee Conceptz, Ezekiel Onyedikachi ThankGod, said the need to hold conversations around the subject was borne out of need to analyse the growth, prospects and project the future of the Nigerian gospel music industry.

He said, “The goal is to be intentional about growth; we want the industry to grow, that’s what we are all about. We have been holding this conference for a while and the goal has always been the same. We want to equip our people with knowledge.”

On his part, award-winning entertainment lawyer, Fawehinmi Oyinkansola, popularly known as Foza Doza, enlightened gospel music creatives on copyright and music licensing, and pointed out that gospel music ministers must understand the act of licensing.
