10 ways Christian should treat their Pastors, leaders in church- Pastor Kumuyi

Pastor W.F. Kumuyi

Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry spoke to his members about "The Divine Call To True Fellowship" at a recent Leadership Development Service. As he spoke about fellowship, he spoke about 10 Ways Christians should treat their pastors and leaders which is their responsibility to them. They are:

1. Follow Them (Hebrews 13:7-8)

Paul told the church to follow him even as he follows Christ. So that should be our disposition today.

2. Esteem them highly (I Thessalonians 5:12-13)

If you esteem someone highly, you are not going to look down on them, belittle them or do anything that will provoke them.

3. Love them (I Thessalonians 5:13)

It means to pursue them steadfastly when we’d rather retreat from them angrily; to call out their sin graciously rather than rebuke them vindictively.

4. Learn from them

He said that you will not listen to the General Superintendent alone, but all other leaders. Never despise any of them. They have different skills and ability, learn from their quiet and humble way of life (Philippians 4:9)

5. Obey them.

Obey every instruction from all leaders, don’t prefer one to another. Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17)

6. Walk like and With them.

Catch up with them if they are fast and slow down when they slow due to age (Philippians 3:17)

7. Stand with them (II Timothy 4:16-17) Be there for them when they have challenges, don’t always assume that they don’t need help or support.

8. Honour them. Feel for and with them and their spouses and children (I Timothy 5:17) We call and visit them from time to time to know how they fare.

9. Inform them on any of your journeys, plans and programmes. Don’t keep them out when good things happen to you and your family so that they will share in your joy. Don’t go to them only when things go wrong (I Corinthians 1:11)

10. Pray for them. Don’t assume that they are so strong and don’t need prayers (II Thessalonians 3:1-2).
