Peter Obi, Fayemi, Sanwo-Olu to lead discourse at Foursquare lecture on insecurity

Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria (FGCN) is set to host its yearly public lecture as part of its contributions to national discourse and nation-building.

This was disclosed, yesterday, in a statement signed by Oludare Mayowa, on behalf of the 66th National Convention Planning Committee.

A former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi, will lead other eminent personalities in discussions at the lecture.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will be a Special Guest of Honour at the lecture slated to hold on October 12, at the headquarters of the FGCN, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos.

The theme is ‘National Security Challenge: Youth Neglect?’ The lecture precedes the Church’s 66th Annual Convention, holding between November 15 and 21, 2021.

Other personalities expected to attend include the Chairman of Channels Television Group, Dr John Momoh, who will chair the event; Prof. Cecilia Oladapo of the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, who will also speak on the theme. The General Overseer of FGCN, Rev Sam Aboyeji, will be the chief host.

According to a statement by Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Rev Theo Netufo, the theme of the lecture is informed by the mood of the nation and the need for the church to contribute its quota to efforts at resolving the security challenge in the country.

Netufo said Foursquare recognises the abundant resources in the youth of the nation and has consistently mobilised the youth and provided support for them in the quest to help them realise their potentials.

According to him, the vision of the General Overseer of Foursquare, Rev Aboyeji, is to empower the youth and keep them engaged positively to ensure that the church and the nation maximise their potentials and divert their attention from mischief.
